Close to 100 guests joined our 2025 Summer Networking Party last Saturday evening!

Organised and hosted by the University of Manchester East Asia Centre, the event was joined by not only our students and alumni, but also our valued partnership representatives. Everyone embodies the proud spirit of the University. 

Olivia Chan, our centre director gave a speech about the centre’s priority over the past few months in reconnecting and building relationships with like-minded partners, aiming to advance the interests of our students and alumni, helping them grow a broader and more meaningful network. “No one can be self-sufficient, and the centre remains vigilant in this changing economic and geo-political landscape in East Asia”. She also asked the participants to take a moment to remember Lord David Alliance GBE, a generous donor to the business school, his lasting legacy will never be forgotten. 

This year’s highlight was the Rainbow Pool Coin Game, which proved to become a crowd favourite, inviting laughter and moments of fun among all the guests. Our guests also found the brand-new neon light handhold a delightful surprise, creating many shared memories across our community.

A special thank you goes to Tim Chan and Christine Kwok for being our MC. As active members of the Toastmasters Club, they brought incredible energy to the stage. The centre will continue to sponsor up to 20 complimentary members to the Toastmasters Club for its growth and expansion. Thanks to also Dr. Justin Cheng, who delivered an inspiring speech about the Club’s history and mission.

We are deeply grateful to Professors Ismail Erturk and Professor Gianluigi Giustiziero for joining us and leading workshops in July. 

And to the many students and alumni who even contributed content to our social media platform by making short videos on the spot, thank you. You are helping us to build strong testimonials across East Asia.

Last but not least, well done to the entire East Asia Centre team for their presence and wholehearted support during the event. A special thanks to Emily Mak, who has led this event successfully with her exceptional organisation and enthusiasm.
