A Season of Impact: From Manchester to East Asia 
In March, the East Asia Centre was honoured to welcome the President & Vice‑Chancellor and the University’s leadership team to Hong Kong — a vibrant hub of talent and a bridge between Manchester and East Asia. Their visit was marked by a series of meaningful engagements and our reach extended further through multiple media interviews, amplifying the message of Manchester’s global vision and Hong Kong’s role as a centre for connection and opportunity.

The highlight of the visit was the East Asia Reception, where we proudly launched the Challenge Accepted Campaign — the University’s first Global Philanthropic Campaign, with Hong Kong as the final stop. This milestone event underscored our shared commitment to making Manchester’s values resonate across the world.

Hosted on 21 March at The Repulse Bay, the East Asia Centre welcomed nearly 130 guests for the campaign launch, underscoring the University’s global reach and commitment to philanthropy, volunteering, and research.

Professor Ivison delivered a powerful message about tackling global challenges together and writing the next chapter of Manchester’s story. The programme also featured a conversation with Donna Buckland, Chair of the Alliance Manchester Alumni Association (Hong Kong), and Patrick Vizzone, President of the Hong Kong Foundation Manchester Board. Their reflections on responsibility, opportunity, and personal narratives prompted guests to consider why and how we might give back to the institution that shaped their lives and careers.
