On behalf of Alliance Manchester Business School, The University of Manchester East Asia Centre extends our warmest congratulations to the AMBSAA(HK) - Alliance Manchester Business School Alumni Association (Hong Kong) on a spectacular Annual Dinner on Saturday, 17 October 2026. We also salute the committee for conducting a smooth and successful Annual General Meeting (AGM), which beautifully reflects the strong governance of this chapter.
The evening was highlighted by an inspiring address from Professor Ken McPhail, Head of AMBS, and brought together students from across East Asia alongside distinguished alumni representing senior leaders from government, corporate, education, and NGO sectors. The night flowed seamlessly, kicked off with fantastic energy by our four brilliant alumni MCs: Tim Chan, Christine Kwok, Bun Cheung, and Christy Cheung.
In his keynote, Professor McPhail celebrated the remarkably strong community built among our regional business leaders, praising our alumni network's agility, dedication, and spirit of openness. He highlighted how a foundation of robust governance and inclusivity serves as the primary driver for groundbreaking innovation, aligning perfectly with The University of Manchester’s new 10-year strategy to deliver lasting social and economic impact. He extended his deepest gratitude to outgoing Board Chair Donna Buckland for her exceptional dedication, and a very warm welcome to our incoming Chair, Dr. Justin Cheng. Dr. Cheng shared his exciting vision to boost strategic partnerships, unlock new opportunities, and maximize mutual benefits across our regional ecosystem.
For over two decades, this chapter has set the benchmark for professional excellence and community impact. Beyond the formal updates, the night was filled with lively energy, featuring engaging games—including a crowd-favorite fast beer-drinking contest—and an exciting lucky draw made possible by our generous sponsors. It was also wonderful to celebrate the UoM Toastmasters Club’s 10th Anniversary alongside the main dinner, with sincere thanks to Tim Chan for championing its growth over the years. Looking ahead, our community is equally eager to connect through the newly announced Pickleball Club led by Standy Chan. To back the long-term success of this new sports and wellness initiative, the East Asia Centre is honored to provide a three-year wellbeing grant to support its ongoing operations.
To the entire alumni committee and everyone who poured their time and heart into organizing this event—thank you. Our central mission at the Centre is to listen to your needs, support your vision, and cheer you on as you continue to make the AMBS network a proud beacon of shared success.
